Iran links competitiveness to resources and carbon footprint
The Iran Stone Association reports on an October 12 conference at Tehran’s Chamber of Commerce. Resource management, lower-carbon technologies and carbon-footprint measurement were discussed as factors in international competitiveness. The association published its account on October 16.
Editorial context
For the stone supply chain, the editorial question is how usable material relates to the resources required to produce it. A purchased block and a finished slab represent different stages of one process. Competitiveness therefore deserves a reading that separates commercial quality, yield and production organisation.
Sustainability claims become more meaningful when their scope can be documented. Calling a stone “natural” does not describe every aspect of its production; buyers need information tied to the material and supply route actually being considered.
