Spain: stone workshop reports rising demand for pet memorials

Mármoles y Granitos Artesanos reports increased enquiries for memorials dedicated to companion animals. In an interview published by Focus Piedra on 30 October 2026, Carlos Tostado says enquiries have tripled this year. This is one company’s account, rather than a national statistic, and it does not measure completed sales.

The Cáceres company’s public catalogue confirms a dedicated pet memorial range. It presents designs for different animals and offers customisation, explaining that established memorial-making techniques can be adapted to the dimensions of a commemorative plaque. This corroborates the existence of the offering; it does not establish a launch on the date of the new interview.

Editorial perspective: a stone workshop assessing this segment needs to examine how an enquiry becomes an executable design. Even a small memorial requires agreement on the stone, dimensions, inscription and finished appearance. A finish sample and a layout proof can help make the customer’s choices explicit before production. Neither step, by itself, demonstrates the profitability of a new market.

More enquiries should therefore be distinguished from an equivalent increase in revenue. Evaluating the opportunity would require knowing how many quotations become orders, how much time each custom design takes and which operations are outsourced. These are editorial questions for interpreting the commercial signal, not measured findings about the company or a forecast for Spain’s entire stone industry.
